He said:

I saw her smiling visage

In the nightingale voice

That was on the air one afternoon,

Some days after

A life had been cut short

The Fates had throttled her for good

That should have bequeathed

Laurels to posterity!

I was thrilled by the voice

Recorded in a cassette

By her doting parents,

Now feeling forlorn,

The cassette and her photograph

Are a prized possession they cherish most.

All these eight years

Since I knew of Priya,

I have nursed the echoes

Of her heart-ravishing song

In the hinterland of my mind.

Whenever I'm pensive,

I recall the song

And recapitulate her figure-

An innocent face wearing a smile;

The visage and the voice pair up!

QUALITY RESTAURANT GUTTED.

Mischievers set the Quality Restaurant at Srinagar ablaze on 21 July 2004,

Numerous Kashmiri Pandits shall be nostalgic to reminiscence the name Quality restaurant situated at Amira Kadal Srinagar, where Coffee, Kebab and Kanti were a specialty with the go-getters of the pre-exodus era.

Established nearly eight decades ago by Sh. Jia Lal Khoda, an enterprising Kashmiri Pandit entrepreneur, the premises situated at the effervescent business centre initially indulged in the trading of silk and handicraft items under Bharat Stores that was later converted into Quality restaurant.

Besides office goers, contactors, lawyers, professors, doctors and other members of the Pandit community this restaurant was frequented by veteran KP leaders like Pt. Kashup Bandhu, Pt. Shiv Narian Fotedar, Pt. Tik Lal Tiploo and many others who sat over in an friendly ambience to discuss many a community problems of those periods.

One of very few last remains of Kashmiri Pandit prime properties that refused to budge under the pressure of distress sale, the restaurant was still run by the son and grandsons of its founder that proved an eye sore to the vested interests and was ultimately consigned to the flames It is undoubtedly painful to many migrants that remember their long merry days spent in this premises devouring their favourite gourmet
