Four houses attached, owners accused of aiding terrorists

Date:- 11 Jul 2022

Acting tough against those helping terrorists, the police headquarters has given a go-ahead to attach four residential buildings and three vehicles, including a two-wheeler, that were “used by ultras to plan and carry out attacks”.

An official spokesperson of the police said, “It was found during investigation in different cases that terrorists got assistance from owners of these buildings. The Parimpora police found that houses of Mohammad Yousuf Sofi and Adil Mohammad Lone of Lawaypora and Khursheed Ahmad of Maloora were used for providing assistance to three terrorists involved in the commission of a terrorist attack upon CRPF men deployed on the Lawaypora highway in Srinagar.”

He said the attack had left four CRPF personnel injured and two of them succumbed to their injuries later.

The accused are said to have provided shelter and logistic support to terrorists several times.

In another case, the Harwan police in Srinagar found that the house of Abdul Rehman Bhat of Darbagh Harwan was used for terror activities as his son Ashiq Hussain Bhat had been “harbouring terrorists”.

“In view of the facts and the evidence collected during an investigation, it was proved that the immovable property represents proceeds of terrorism,” the spokesperson said.

During investigation of a case in Ganderbal and Pulwama, it came to the fore that a Scorpio car (HR51AR5070) registered on the name of Lateef Ahmad Kambay, a goods carrier (JK13E7129) of Aquib Yousuf Mir and a scooter (JK13G2726) of Irshad Ahmad Malik were used for carrying out terror activities.

“In exercise of powers conferred under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the DGP has accorded sanction for attachment/seizure of the properties,” the spokesperson added.

In 2021, the police had seized 75 vehicles, cash and attached five houses, six shops and pieces of land under the UAPA. On June 21 this year, the police had attached five houses in Srinagar for sheltering terrorists.
