Amateur Journalist Awards: December 1994 Koshur Samachar

Prof Chaman Lal Sapru, Editorial Consultant, and Shri Makhan Lal Bhat, Editor (English) of 'Koshur Samachar", New Delhi, have been awarded Pandit Prem Nath Bhatt Memorial Amateur Journalist Awards for 1994 The Awards were presented by Lt. Gen. (Retd) D.D. Saklanı, Advisor to the J&K Governor, at a function held in the Dak Bungalow at Jammu on November 24, 1994. The others to whom the Award was given this year are Dr K.N. Pandita, former Professor in Kashmir University Shri Dina Nath Raina, author, Shri M M Khajuria, former Director General of Police, J&K, Dr. AC Bose, former Head of History Department, Jammu University, and Mrs. Usha Jamwal, wife of Major-General Jagdish Singh Jamwal, all social activists and prominent non-professional journalists.

Pandit Prem Nath Bhat Amateur Journalist Awards were instituted in 1992 jointly by the Daily "Jammu Panorama" and Pandit Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust to commemorate the memory of the late Pandit Bhat, Advocate, himself a prominent non-professional journalist, who was gunned down by fanatic militants in his home-town, Anantnag, on December 27, 1989 Pandit Bhat's young son, Shri Kashmiri Lal Bhat, an advocate practising in Jammu after migration from Kashmir, is the leading light of the Trust along with Shri Yash Bhasin, Editor, 'Jammu Panorama', Jammu.
