NIA, SIA raid jailed Kashmiri journalist s house, office

Fahad Shah was first arrested on February 4 by police accusing him of glorifying militancy, spreading fake news and inciting violence

Investigating agencies on Sunday raided the house and office of jailed journalist Fahad Shah in Srinagar.

A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the J&K Police’s newly-constituted State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted searches at Shah’s residence at Dawood Colony of Soura locality and at his office at Kursoo Raj Bagh locality in Srinagar.

“The searches were conducted in connection with cases already registered against Fahad Shah at the SIA and the NIA,” a police official said.

Police filed three cases against Shah for allegedly glorifying terrorism, spreading fake news and inciting the general public for creating law and order situations in Kashmir.

Shah was first arrested on February 4 by police accusing him of glorifying militancy, spreading fake news and inciting violence.

He was given bail in two cases.

In March, the J&K administration slapped the Public Safety Act (PSA) against him before he could get bail in the third case. He is lodged at Kupwara central jail.
