Two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists today barged into the house of a BJP sarpanch in Anantnag district of J&K and gunned down him and his wife. With this, the number of saffron party workers killed in the Valley this year has gone up to four.

The incident, according to the police, took place in the Lal Chowk area around 4 pm. Two terrorists entered the rented accommodation of Ghulam Rasool Dar and fired indiscriminately at him and his wife Jawhara Begum, officials said. The couple were shifted to a hospital, where they were declared “brought dead”. Inspector General of Police (Kashmir range) Vijay Kumar said, “Two motorcycle-borne terrorists of the LeT were behind the murders.”

The couple were provided accommodation at Snow Cap Hotel, Kulgam, where they stayed for a short period. They insisted on moving back to their house at Anantnag and had also submitted an undertaking in that regard. — PTI
