Another ultra escapes, held moments later; arms seized

The police today said the security forces in a joint operation killed an unidentified terrorist in Budgam district and arrested another, who escaped from the encounter site, from Pulwama. The forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Mochuwa area following inputs about the presence of ultras there, a police official said.

“One terrorist was killed in the encounter. An AK assault rifle and a pistol were seized from him,” the official said.

The identity and group affiliation of the terrorist is being ascertained.

Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said the escapee was arrested from the Khrew area in Pulwama. He was taken from Mochuwa to Khrew by a truck driver, who has also been arrested, Kumar said. A pistol and a grenade were found in the truck. (With PTI inputs)
