Narco-terror module busted in Kupwara; heroin worth Rs 50 cr seized, terror associate arrested

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday busted a Pakistansponsored narco-terror module in Kupwara district and seized heroin worth Rs 50 crore, an official said. On specific information, Kupwara Police have busted a narco-terror module by arresting one terrorist associate and recovered a huge quantity of narcotic substance worth crores from his possession. The arrested terrorist associate has been identified as Mujasir Ahmad Lone son of Muzaffer Ahmad Lone resident of Karen Bala. 8Kgs of Heroin worth Rs 50 crores was recovered from his possession. Other persons involved in the said narcoterror crime have also been identified and efforts are on to effect their arrest. Preliminary investigation reveals that the module was in close contact with Pakistan based terror handlers and were involved in drug trade & assisting financially to active terrorists of the Valley. The recoveries also exposed the inter connection between drug dealers and terrorists. Moreover, the module was also working for terrorists to strengthen their activities in the valley and misleading and motivating the gullible youth of the valley to join terrorist ranks. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been taken up. Police once again appeal to the people of the valley to come forward with the information regarding Drug Peddlers/Smugglers so that the curative steps can be taken against them.
