Army Chief reviews readiness of troops

Date:- 28 Apr 2021

Army Chief General MM Naravane on Tuesday visited Siachen and eastern Ladakh to review the operational preparedness.

General Naravane interacted with troops and complimented them for their steadfastness and high morale while being deployed in some of the harshest terrain, altitude and weather conditions.

The Army Chief was accompanied by Lt Gen YK Joshi, Commander of the Northern Command. At Leh, he was later briefed by Lt General PGK Menon, the 14 Corps Commander, on the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness in the region.

Gen Naravane is scheduled to return to the national capital on Wednesday.

It has been almost a year since India and China are locked in a military standoff at multiple friction points in eastern Ladakh. The two sides completed withdrawal of troops and weapons from the north and south banks of Pangong lake in February following a series of military and diplomatic talks.

The two sides are now engaged in talks to extend the disengagement process to the remaining friction points.
