Two militants killed, jawan martyred

Two militants were killed in Dangam village of Harmain belt in South Kashmir’s Shopian district this evening while a soldier was martyred and another injured.

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar told Excelsior that two militant were killed in an encounter that raged between security forces and militants this evening. He said that two soldiers were injured and one of them later succumbed to injuries. He added that the area is under cordon.

Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
