Five security personnel, including a BSF Sub-Inspector and four Army jawans, were among 11 persons killed in multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) from Gurez to Uri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

India launched a counter-attack, killing six to seven Pakistani soldiers, including two SSG (Special Service Group) commandos, and injuring some 10 persons on the other side. Videos released by the Indian Army showed the enemy targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) being destroyed.

Ministry of Defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said Pakistan used mortars and targeted civilian areas in India. “Our troops retaliated, causing casualties and substantial damage to Pakistan army’s infrastructure across the LoC. Several ammo and fuel dumps and multiple terrorist launch pads were damaged,” he said.

Four Army personnel, a BSF Sub-Inspector and six civilians were killed in Pakistani action. “Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC spread across multiple sectors, including Dawar, Keran, Uri and Naugam. Suspicious movement was observed by our troops at the forward posts along the LoC in the Keran sector,” Col Kalia said.
