Date:- 29 Sep 2020

A soldier was injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machil sector of Kupwara district this morning, the Army said.

Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC by firing mortars and other weapons in which the soldier was injured.

“He was evacuated and his condition is stated to be stable,” Srinagar-based Defence spokesman said. Befitting response is being given to Pakistani firing, he added.

Meanwhile, a civilian, who was wounded in an explosion at an encounter site in Anantnag on Friday, died today, officials said. At least four persons were injured when a shell exploded in the debris of a house at Sirhama on Friday where two LeT militants were killed in an overnight gunfight. Officials said the civilian, Yaseen Rather, was injured in the blast and died at a Srinagar hospital.

Shelling in Rajouri

Jammu: The Pakistan army today resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling in forward areas of the Nowshera sector along the LoC in Rajouri district.

According to the defence spokesperson, “At about 3.30 pm, the Pakistan army began unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along the LoC in the Nowshera sector.”

The Indian Army retaliated befittingly to silence the Pakistani guns.

The intensity of the ceasefire violations along the LoC has increased this year with reports suggesting that the Pakistan army has violated mutually agreed upon truce between the two countries over 40 times in September so far.

On September 15, a soldier was killed and two more, including an officer, were injured as Pakistan opened heavy fire and did shelling with mortars along the LoC in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri.
