Suspected militants fired at a CRPF party at the Nowgam bypass on the city outskirts this

morning, officials said. There was, however, no injury or loss of life in the incident. A CRPF officer said it was a stray firing incident along the Srinagar bypass road.

The area was later cordoned off by forces. However, no militants could be traced, he said.

Meanwhile, an anti-militancy operation is under way in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, the police said.

A cordon and search operation was launched by joint forces this evening in the Chrar-i-Sharief area of Budgam based on inputs by the police.
