Date:- 22 Aug 2020

An unidentified militant has been killed in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after a gunfight erupted on Saturday, police have said.

The gunfight erupted at Saloosa Kreeri when joint teams of forces launched a cordon and a search operation.

“During a CASO, an encounter broke in which one militant has been killed so far,” a police officer said, adding the operation was still under way.

This is the second gunfight in Kreeri area in the past five days.

On August 17, militants attacked a joint naka of forces that left two CRPF men and a Special Police Officer dead. In the subsequent operation that lasted for over 30 hours, three militants, including two top Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and two Army men were killed.
