Civilian injured as militants target police in Kashmir

Security forces have cordoned the area and have started searches to nab the militants

A civilian was injured in a firing incident in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday.

A senior police officer said the militants fired at a police party in a market area of Yaripora Kulgam, in which a civilian was injured.

“Militants were in a vehicle when they were firing on a police party. No policeman was injured in the incident. However, one civilian was injured,” the officer said.

Security forces have cordoned the area and have started searches to nab the militants involved in the attack.

The firing took place a day after a top Pakistani militant and an IED expert of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, who was allegedly involved in making the IED-laden car which was intercepted by forces in Pulwama last week, was killed along with two associates in a gunfight in south Kashmir.
