Four terrorists were killed in an encounter with Special Forces (SF) and the Indian Army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), in the Hamam forested area of Rafiabad in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. As of late on Wednesday, the operation was still underway, the second major one in North Kashmir in two days.

The identity and affiliation of the terrorists was still being ascertained. They are believed to have infiltrated recently through the Uri sector.

Intelligence agencies have warned that groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are planning attacks on security forces ahead of Independence Day.
