Dismissing the recent UN report on alleged human rights violations in J&K as baseless and devoid of ground realities, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said the Indian Army showed utmost restraint in dealing with protesters and problems in the state. “The UN report was unfortunately prepared sitting in the comfort zone somewhere else… it does not take ground realities into account. The Indian Army shows the highest restraint in dealing with protesters,” Sitharaman said. The foreign ministry had rejected the report, which detailed alleged human rights violations on both sides of Line of Control. TNN
