Date:- 02 Jul 2018

Two Gujarat fishermen who were in Pakistani Jail since last one year, released by the neighbouring country on health ground, have arrived to their homeland on Sunday.

The fishermen – Dana Arjan Chauhan and Rama Mensi Gohil were abducted from off-Kutch coast by Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA) last year for allegedly crossing International Marine Boundary Line (IMBL) and kept at Karachi jail.

Fishermen community leader in Gujarat Veljibhai Masani said that 39-year-old Chauhan is suffering from cancer and 45-year-old Gohil is suffering from paralysis. Both were abducted by PMSA personnel on May 2, 2017.

Following repeated representation through multiple levels within the purview of India- Pakistan pact the neighbouring country's Government agreed to release both the ailing fishermen on health ground. They were handed over to Indian authorities at Wagah border from where they reached to Gujarat by train.

On their arrival, both the fishermen were welcomed by the leaders of fishermen community and assured them of medical treatment.
