A ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activisit was shot at and critically injures by hitmen in uptowan Srinagar late on Sunday evening, officials said.

They said gunmen fired upon Zubair Majeed Parray (30) from point blank range at his crockery shop in Allochibagh area of uptown Srinagar.

Parray was shifted to Sri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in serious conditions

Sources said that Parray was associated with BJP and had participated in the election campaign in 2014 Assembly polls. He had quit a job with police department before joining the ruling party.

SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismaiel Parray said that police have launched a hunt to nab the assailants.

This is sexoms attack on ruling BJP workers in Kashmir in a week’s time. Last week gunmen opened fire on senior political activist Ghulam Nabi Patel on Rajpora area of south Kashmir. Patel had joined the BJP after remaining affilaites with Congress and PDP foe more than two decades.
