Police today said that a youth who had recently joined militancy surrendered with the help of family and community members.
The youth has been identified as Basit Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Agricheck, Rajpora. He went missing and joined militancy on March 30 this year.
“One more youth from Pulwama with the efforts of community members and Police has shunned the path of violence and returned to mainstream. Identity stands protected”, police said.
Recently, addressing a joint press conference in Srinagar, GOC Lt Gen KJS Dhillon and DGP Dilbag Singh had said that many youth returned to the mainstream and their identity stands protected.
