Kargil body urges govt not to revoke Art 35A

The All Party Coordination Committee, Kargil, on Monday urged the government to refrain from diluting the Article 370 through the revocation of Article 35A. It said the Article should not be revoked at any cost.

The committee also expressed shock over the Pulwama bombing incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families. Condemning the incident, it said that it stood by the bereaved families in this hour of grief.

In a statement issued on Monday, All Party Coordination Committee (APCC) co-chairman Haji Anayat Ali said a team of senior officials constituted by the State Administrative Council, under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Planning) Rohit Kansal, visited Kargil on February 23, where they interacted with members of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, all party delegates and head of the departments of the local administration.

The visit was to determine the periodicity of the posting and stay of the Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, and the Inspector General of Police at Kargil and Leh, identify the posts of the divisional-level heads of various departments, their equitable locations at Kargil and Leh and their staffing pattern.

The APCC leader expressed gratitude to Governor Satya Pal Malik and senior officials of the administration for their “magnanimity” and showing interest in the early resolution of the genuine issues of Kargil people.

The committee also expressed gratitude to the people of Kargil and religious, social and political institutions and the students’ unions from Kargil for their efforts and support to bring the issues to the immediate notice of the administration and make their early redress possible.

State ski team leaves for national c’ship

Srinagar: A nine-member Nordic and Alpine ski team of the state will take part in the National Skiing Championship at Auli in Uttarakhand from Tuesday. The team was flagged off by the Winter Games Association of J&K president Abass Wani. Mohammad Yusuf, who was nominated as the technical delegate of the games by the Indian Olympic Association, is accompanying the team. tns
