Bandh Hits Life In Jammu

Normal life was thrown out of gear across many parts of Jammu region on Wednesday in response to the day long bandh call given by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu in support of various demands including deportation of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals, CBI probe in rape and murder case of a minor girl and withdrawal of minutes of the meeting of Tribal affairs department. The ruling partners BJP-PDP had not anticipated peaceful and successful bandh in the region.

Even though Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu stayed away from the bandh call but shops remained closed and market places wore deserted look in many parts of Jammu city. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Dr Arun Manhas told The Pioneer, the day long bandh passed off peacefully with no incident of violence reported from any where across Jammu till late afternoon".

Public transport remained off the road while educational institutions were closed down to ensure safety of children in the wake of bandh call.

Activists belonging to various political parties including Panthers party, Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal staged protest demonstrations against the state government and burnt effigies at several places.
