India warns Pakistan of consequences

Date:- 01 Feb 2019

India on Thursday drew a diplomatic “red line” for Pakistan, warning that any repeat of interference in India’s internal affairs will have its consequences.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar termed the telephone call by Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to former Chairman of the All-Party Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, as “direct interference in India’s affairs”. A repeat of this will have consequences, he said, adding that he was not at liberty to reveal what these consequences would be.

Last night, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale had summoned Pakistan High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood over the same issue to lodge a formal protest.
