India, Pak Trade Fire In Samba, Poonch

Security forces Tuesday launched a search operation following suspected movement along the Indo-Pakistan border in Samba district.
In the meanwhile, India, Pakistan today also traded fire in Samba sector on the International Border and on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. 
Officials said that the search operation was launched in Basantar river area in Ramgarh sector of Samba district. The operation was launched following reports of suspected movement in border areas of Ramgarh sector, officials said. The Basantar riverine area along the International Border has been an infiltration route for militants.
“A suspicious movement was seen late on Monday night in river Basantar following which the search operation was launched,” said officials. Notably, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to address a rally in Vijaypur in Samba district on February 3. In the wake of Prime Minister’s visit, the entire belt is being sanitised and the security agencies are leaving nothing to chance, officials added. 
In the meanwhile, India and Pakistan Tuesday also traded fire on the International Border in Samba sector. Officials said that shelling was started from Pakistan side as Pakistani Rangers targetted forward posts along the IB in Ramgarh sector in Samba Monday evening with small arms. However, the presence of BSF troops guarding the borderline retaliated by firing toward the opposite posts.
Reports also said that the exchange of fire from both the sides lasted for hours. However, there were no immediate reports of any causality form either side.
Late in the evening, Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing targeting Indian forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch. There was no report of any loss yet the firing continued till the last reports poured in
