Pak firing on IB

Date:- 29 Jan 2019

Pakistani Rangers today again violated ceasefire on the International Border (IB) in Samba sector targeting a JCB machine of the Border Security Force (BSF) engaged in construction work on the border while an Army jawan was injured in a mine blast on the Line of Control (LoC) in Khour sector and troops conducted search operation in Mendhar sector of Poonch district after observing suspicious movement.
Sources said the Pakistani Rangers fired few shots targeting a JCB engaged by the BSF for some construction work at Chandawan in Samba sector this afternoon. However, shots missed the target and workers had narrow escape. The BSF immediately retaliated the firing by the Rangers

There was exchange of only few rounds and firing stopped thereafter, sources said, adding that no casualties or damages were reported on the Indian side.
Pakistan has frequently been violating ceasefire on both LoC and International Border in Rajouri, Poonch, Samba and Kathua districts. Only few days back, a BSF Assistant Commandant was martyred in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in a sniper shot fired by the Rangers.
In another incident, an Army soldier was injured in a mine blast on the LoC at forward village of Keri Lalyal in Khour sector of Akhnoor tehsil in Jammu district today.
The Army jawan stepped over a mine while conducting foot patrolling at the forward village, leading to an explosion in which he was injured. He has been identified as Shankar Singh.
Troops evacuated the injured and shifted him to Military Hospital, Udhampur.
Meanwhile, security forces today conducted massive search operation in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district this morning after people observed some suspicious movement.
The search operation was conducted at Mankote, Ghani, Balnoi and surrounding villages of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district throughout the day today. Search operations were called off late in the evening during which no movement of militants was spotted.
Also, no arrests were made during the search operations, which were conducted jointly by Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and local police.
“The search operation was launched following an input about presence of militants in these villages,” sources said but added that there was no trace of the militants.
However, there was no ceasefire violation on the Line of Control in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch today. Ceasefire violations from the Pakistan side were taking place almost daily in these two districts, which were being retaliated very effectively by the Indian troops.
