ASI among 3 cops injured in grenade attack

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and two Traffic police personnel were injured in a grenade blast near Zero Bridge in Rajbagh area of Srinagar this afternoon.
Militants lobbed a grenade on police party near Zero Bridge in Rajbagh this afternoon. Three policemen including an ASI and two Traffic policemen were injured in the attack. They were evacuated to SMHS hospital for treatment.
The injured has been identified as ASI Iqbal Singh of 14th Battalion of JKAP and traffic policemen SPO Haris Manzoor and Head Constable Sanullah.
Iqbal Singh sustained splinter injuries in both of his legs while Haris suffered an injury in his neck and Sanullah in the right leg. Click here to watch video
Soon after the attack, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants responsible for the attack. House to house searches were also conducted in the area.
A police spokesman said that officers attended the crime spot and found that three cops injured in the attack. “Police has registered a case in this regard and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the incident,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
This is the second grenade attack in Civil Lines area of Srinagar since last week. Last week, militants fired a rifle grenade at the CRPF in Lal Chowk without causing any damage.
Sources said that two local militants were active in Srinagar and they are responsible for these grenade attacks. Security forces have launched manhunt against them.
And a local militant of Lashkar-eToiba (LeT) was arrested by Special Operation Group (SOG) of police from Kulgam district of South Kashmir this morning.
The SOG during a raid at Chahlan village arrested one person Mubarak Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rahim Dar. Mubarak, a resident of Redwani Balla was missing since October, last year.
Police said that acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Chahlan village of Kulgam by the sleuths of SOG and during searches, the suspected person was apprehended.
Police said that Mubarak Ahmad Dar was an active militant (category-C) since October last year and was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit.
“A case under relevant Sections of law has been registered and further investigations initiated,” police said
