Date:- 14 Jan 2019

The Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two militants, including a juvenile, from a ‘naka’ in Shopian district. The ‘naka’ (checkpoint) had been put by a joint team of the Delhi Police and J&K Police.

In a press release, the Delhi Police said two militants were arrested from Narwaw village of Shopian. However, the press release did not mention the date of the arrest.

One of the arrested persons has been identified as Kifayatullah Bukhari, son of Mehrajuddin Bukhari, a resident of Nowpora in Shopian district. The second militant has only been identified as a “juvenile in conflict with law

The arrested militants were in touch with Naveed Babu, a policeman-turned-Hizb commander,” the statement read.

A case has been registered in this regard at the Shopian police station.

One pistol and 14 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the duo.

The Delhi Police maintained that there were specific inputs regarding a Hizbul Mujahideen module, which visited the National Capital Region for procurement of sophisticated small weapons, given the fact that such weapons are hard to procure in J&K.

“A special team was set up and sent to Jammu and Kashmir from Delhi. The information was shared with the counterparts from Shopian following which a trap was laid and the two militants were arrested,” the statement said.

There has been no word on the arrests and the operation from the J&KPolice.
