PM to sound poll bugle at Samba rally on Jan 15

Date:- 02 Jan 2019

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Jammu on a daylong tour on January 15 to kick-start the campaign for the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in J&K.

Apart from launching various Jammu-centric developmental projects, the PM will also address a public rally at Vijaypur in Samba district.

Confirming the PM’s visit, BJP state president Ravinder Raina told The Tribune that the party had pressed all its resources to make the Vijaypur rally one of the biggest political gatherings. “We have already started the campaign to mobilise public for the rally and the party is expecting a participation of over one lakh,” he added. The PM’s rally will be held at the place where the foundation stone for the prestigious AIIMS project will be laid. “As AIIMS was sanctioned for the Jammu region after a two-month long agitation, the BJP is trying to reap political benefit from this project,” a source said, adding that the venue was deliberately selected for the political rally.

Raina said the PM would also lay the foundation stone for widening the Jammu-Poonch national highway via Akhnoor project, Shahpur-Kandi-Ujj irrigation project and beautification of the Devika in Udhampur. He will also lay the stones for the Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Doda alternative road, Ladakh university, Leh Medical College and Rs 210-crore Indripattan-Pargwal Bridge. — TNS
